The College Board is pleased to announce Rebecca Wenrich as the 2015 SpringBoard Teacher of Distinction. Ms. Wenrich, who has been an English Language Arts teacher at Gig Harbor (Wash.) High School since 2006, is being recognized for her effective teaching practices and successful implementation of SpringBoard in the classroom.

The SpringBoard Teacher of Distinction award recognizes and celebrates exceptional and passionate educators for their excellence in conveying the core principles of the SpringBoard program.Through her instruction, Ms. Wenrich has inspired a love for learning in her students and become a distinguished leader in her school.

"I am so honored to receive this recognition," Ms. Wenrich said. "I have been so fortunate to work in a district that has supported my professional development through opportunities with the College Board. This has challenged my practice and my focus towards what is truly best for students. It has given me such reward to watch my students engage and excel at a level they didn't think they could. I am truly grateful!"

As part of the Teacher of Distinction process, Ms. Wenrich had to complete a rigorous application process which included a self-evaluation, submission of student work, a classroom video, a letter of recommendation, and a phone interview. As part of this recognition, Ms. Wenrich will receive additional professional learning opportunities, recognition at College Board events, and opportunities to preview new SpringBoard-related products and services.

“We applaud Ms. Wenrich for her dedication to her students and this recognition acknowledges her teaching excellence and her dedication to student engagement and learning," said Douglas Waugh, executive director, of the SpringBoard program. "Her classroom reflects that unique blend of excitement and challenge. It is inspiring to see."
